Questions & Answers (FAQ)

Here you will find answers to the most frequent questions about Wood Luck Design children’s furniture – quality, materials, colours, assembly, returns and complaints, and our overall design philosophy.

Quality & safety

Are Wood Luck Design furniture high quality?

Yes. We design our furniture for everyday, long-term use in kids’ rooms, which is why we combine solid beech or oak wood, plywood, MDF boards and high-quality particle boards sourced from certified suppliers. Each material is selected intentionally: solid wood for structural strength, plywood and MDF for stability and smooth surfaces, and high-density particle board for large flat elements that require rigidity. We focus on stable construction, strong joints and consistent dimensions. Every collection undergoes internal load and durability tests (drawers, shelves, tops), and we inspect the furniture for stiffness, stability and resistance to everyday wear. Thanks to this, our desks, chests of drawers and beds handle daily opening, climbing and frequent rearranging without issues.

Do Wood Luck Design furniture have safety certificates?

We prioritise children’s safety, which is why we work with European material suppliers and design our products to meet the requirements for kids’ furniture in the European Union. The paints and varnishes we use are safe for children and certified for compliance with EN71/3, a standard that limits heavy-metal emissions in children’s furniture and toys. The boards used in our production meet strict formaldehyde-emission requirements, confirmed for example by CARB-type certifications. Edges are rounded or milled, and constructions are designed to minimise the risk of tipping or finger pinching. You can always check up-to-date information on certificates and standards in product detail pages and in our store regulations.

Do you use water-based paints and hold relevant certificates?

Yes, we use water-based paints and lacquers specifically intended for children’s furniture. They are more suitable for kids’ rooms than classic solvent-based coatings – they do not contain harsh solvents, do not emit a strong “chemical” smell and are gentler on the respiratory system. At the same time, they meet strict durability and scratch-resistance requirements. Our lacquers are certified for compliance with EN71/3 (testing heavy-metal migration), and wood-based panels meet formaldehyde-emission standards such as CARB requirements. We work with suppliers who declare compliance with European safety standards, and you can always find up-to-date information on standards and certifications in product sheets.

Are the edges of your furniture sharp?

No. In children’s furniture we deliberately avoid sharp corners. Elements are milled and rounded to minimise the risk of cuts or painful bumps. This applies to tops, sides and drawer fronts. We also rely on solid wood and plywood – a collision with metal bars or sharp fittings is far more unpleasant than with a warm, wooden surface. Thanks to this, our furniture is not only visually pleasing but also more child-friendly in everyday use.

How do you protect furniture from tipping over?

We design taller and heavier children’s furniture with stability and wall anchoring in mind. For example, Babushka chests of drawers come with wall brackets that allow you to fix the piece to the wall and significantly reduce the risk of tipping, even if a child pulls hard on a drawer. Shelves and wall units feature additional fixings so the whole construction holds firmly to the wall. Our assembly instructions always recommend anchoring furniture to the wall, especially in younger children’s rooms.

Are water-based lacquers durable enough for kids’ rooms?

Modern water-based lacquers used in our furniture are engineered for intensive use – they are resistant to typical scratching, abrasion and everyday cleaning. Compared to older solvent-based coatings, they mainly differ in chemical composition and much lower emission of harmful substances, not in durability. This makes them a solution that combines safety (lower VOC emissions, no strong odour) with everyday practicality in kids’ rooms.

Where are Wood Luck Design furniture produced?

Wood Luck Design is a Polish brand originating from the Bieszczady region in south-eastern Poland. Our furniture is designed and manufactured in Poland, close to our roots around Bieszczady and Sanok. This gives us full control over the production process, allows us to supervise quality on a daily basis, and to test new ideas directly with experienced local carpenters and technicians.

Are Wood Luck Design beds safe for younger children?

Our beds are designed for children at different stages of development. Many models include guard rails, which—when paired with a properly chosen mattress height - minimize the risk of falls. For the youngest children we recommend lower constructions and solutions inspired by the Montessori approach, where the child can get in and out of bed independently without climbing. Suggested age ranges and safety notes are always listed on individual product pages, so it is worth reviewing them before purchase.

Do your drawers use soft-close runners and safety stops?

In many of our chests of drawers, desks and cabinets we use soft-close runners and safety stops that prevent violent slamming and reduce the risk of pinched fingers. This is especially important in children’s furniture, where drawers are used very intensively. You can always find details about the type of runners used in the description of each collection or product.

How are your furniture different from the cheapest mass-market options?

The cheapest children’s furniture often means a strong compromise between price and materials, surface finishes, runners and hardware. At Wood Luck Design we invest in stable constructions, carefully engineered details, better board quality, stronger fittings and finishes adapted to children’s furniture requirements. As a result, our pieces keep their looks for longer, resist wobbling and keep drawers and doors working smoothly for years, not just during the first season.

Do your products comply with EU standards for children’s furniture?

When designing children’s furniture we follow the requirements of applicable European standards, including those concerning chemical safety (such as EN71/3) and formaldehyde emissions (CARB-like requirements). In addition, we carry out internal tests focusing on stability, load capacity and ergonomics. Detailed information on standards and technical parameters is available on product pages and in our store regulations.

Colours & design

What furniture colours are currently trending for children’s rooms?

The most popular choices are calm, natural tones: warm whites, beiges, light greys, olive greens and soft pastels. This kind of colour base makes the room cosy and timeless and lets you change the vibe with accessories like bedding, posters or toys. Wood Luck Design collections are built around these shades so they are easy to mix and match and will “grow” with your child instead of going out of trend after one season.

Are pink furniture only for girls and blue only for boys?

No. At Wood Luck Design we consciously move away from the old “pink for girls, blue for boys” stereotype. A child’s room should reflect their personality, not social clichés. Soft pink can look beautiful in a boy’s room, and muted blue or green might be perfect for a girl. The key is how your child feels in their space and how well the colours work together with textiles and decorations.

Does the Babushka collection match other Wood Luck Design collections?

Yes. The Babushka collection is designed to mix easily with other Wood Luck Design lines. Its rounded silhouettes and soft, neutral colours combine nicely with both simple shapes and more contemporary pieces. This means you can start with just a Babushka bed or desk and later add a wardrobe or chest of drawers from another collection, while keeping the room coherent and well balanced.

Is the Babushka collection suitable for a boy’s room?

Absolutely. Babushka was created for children, not for gender stereotypes. The rounded forms feel safe and cosy, and the olive colour fits both boys’ and girls’ rooms. With a few well-chosen accessories – bedding, wall art, rugs – you can easily give the interior a more “boyish” or “girlish” vibe while keeping the same Babushka furniture.

Why should children’s furniture be not only functional but also beautiful?

Children spend a lot of time in their room – they sleep, play, learn and relax there. Being surrounded by well-designed, aesthetically pleasing objects supports their sense of safety, sensitivity to beauty and creativity. Function is the base (proper dimensions, ergonomics, storage), but at Wood Luck Design we believe that form and colour strongly influence mood. That is why we create furniture that is practical and at the same time beautiful, so it looks good both in the child’s room and within the family home as a whole.

How do I choose furniture colour for a small kids’ room?

For small rooms it is best to choose light, airy colours such as warm white, cream, light beige or soft pastels. They visually enlarge the space and work well with natural light. Stronger colour accents are better introduced through accessories such as textiles, posters or lamps. Wood Luck Design furniture is built around a calm colour palette, which makes it easier to furnish even very compact rooms without feeling cramped.

How should I choose furniture colours for a shared siblings’ room?

In a shared room it is usually best to choose a neutral base – furniture in white, beige, grey or olive – and use accessories to reflect each child’s personality. Each child can have their own bedding, cushions or posters in favourite colours while keeping the furniture consistent and timeless. This way, the room feels harmonious but still gives each child a personal zone.

Will Wood Luck Design furniture still work in a teenager’s room?

Yes. We intentionally design our collections to grow with the child in both function and aesthetics. Clean lines, neutral colours and carefully considered details make Wood Luck Design desks, beds and storage pieces look good in a teenager’s room and even in a home office or living room. With a change of accessories the room can easily shift towards a more “grown-up” look.

What is the style of Wood Luck Design furniture – Scandinavian, modern, classic?

Our furniture is close to Scandinavian aesthetics: light colours, natural wood, simple forms and no excessive decorations. At the same time, we add characteristic details – milling, rounded edges and carefully chosen proportions – which give our pieces a recognisable, signature look. This makes them easy to place in both minimalist interiors and warm, nature-inspired spaces.

Do you offer inspiration and example room layouts?

Yes. On our website and social media channels we regularly share complete children’s room layouts featuring Wood Luck Design furniture: rooms for toddlers, siblings, teenagers, as well as small spaces and more unusual layouts. This is a helpful starting point if you are looking for ideas on colour palettes, bed and desk placement or mixing several collections in one interior.

Functionality & practicality

Do your furniture grow with the child?

Yes. Many of our designs are created to adapt as your child grows, serving the family for many years. A great example is the SMART bed: it starts as a compact 80×120 cm baby cot, then transforms into a 80×160 cm junior bed, and later into a functional desk and chest of drawers. This makes it ideal for evolving children’s rooms that need long-lasting, practical solutions. Our design philosophy is based on furniture that supports development instead of forcing you to replace pieces every few years.

Are your furniture pieces practical?

Yes. Practicality is one of the core principles behind Wood Luck Design. For example, in the BASIC collection the wardrobe and chest of drawers include an additional shelf unit that can be mounted on either the left or right side depending on the room layout. This allows parents to adapt the furniture to any interior without compromise. Across all collections we prioritise functionality, accessible storage for children and layouts that remain flexible as the room evolves.

Are your furniture suitable for small rooms?

Yes. Our furniture is designed to work perfectly even in small rooms. A great example is the BASIC loft bed – an elevated sleeping space with additional room underneath for study or play. The attached desk board creates a child’s first workstation, making the loft bed both a comfortable bed and a functional learning zone. This multifunctional approach is ideal for small interiors or rooms with challenging layouts.

Do you have bunk beds?

Yes. We offer bunk beds in our Babushka and Basic collections. They combine strong construction, durability and practical flexibility. When needed, both models can be separated into two standalone 90×200 cm beds – perfect for growing children, room changes or evolving needs. Built with solid wood and reinforced joints, they provide long-term stability and safety for everyday use.

What is the maximum load capacity of your beds?

Our beds are designed to handle everyday use by a child plus extra weight when a parent sits next to them for reading or bedtime. Exact maximum loads vary between models and are always listed in the product specifications. Before purchasing, we recommend checking the product sheet for the specific bed, where you will find the recommended load capacity and usage guidelines.

Do you offer extra storage such as under-bed drawers?

Yes. Many of our collections include under-bed drawers, spacious chests of drawers, shelves and storage modules that can be combined freely. Under-bed drawers are perfect for bedding, toys or seasonal clothes, especially in small rooms. When designing our pieces, we always try to give each element an extra function: storage, display surface or an additional area for learning and play.

Can I change the configuration of shelves and storage units?

In many designs we use adjustable shelves and allow certain elements (such as side bookcases in the BASIC collection) to be mounted on either side. This means you can fine-tune the interior layout to your child’s current needs – more space for books, toys or clothes. Detailed information about configuration options is available in the descriptions of each product.

Are Wood Luck Design desks ergonomic?

When designing desks we consider typical worktop heights for children at different ages, as well as legroom and chair space. We pay attention to sufficient depth for comfortable work and to the placement of drawers so that school supplies are within easy reach. Many models also provide dedicated space for a lamp or computer. Before buying, it is a good idea to check your child’s height and compare it with the desk measurements listed on the product page.

Can your furniture be used outside of children’s rooms?

Yes. Thanks to their neutral palette and clean lines, many of our pieces work well in other parts of the home, such as hallways, home offices or guest rooms. Chests of drawers, shelves and desks can move with your child into another room as they grow, instead of ending up in storage.

Are your furniture suitable for Montessori-style interiors?

Many of our solutions – low beds, open shelves, easily accessible drawers – fit well with the Montessori philosophy, which emphasises independence and furniture adapted to the child’s height. You can combine Wood Luck Design beds, chests and shelves in a way that lets your child reach books, clothes and toys on their own while keeping the room safe and organised.

Assembly, use & surfaces

Are Wood Luck Design furniture difficult to assemble?

Our furniture is delivered flat-packed with detailed step-by-step assembly instructions. Our products can be easily assembled using the basic tools provided with the furniture, and clear drawings guide you through each stage. If you have any previous experience with flat-pack furniture, the process will be straightforward and predictable. If you have questions, our customer support team is happy to help.

Can I order furniture already assembled?

By default, we ship furniture flat-packed for self-assembly – this is the safest and most efficient way to deliver furniture across Poland and Europe. In selected locations, additional on-site assembly by a third-party partner may be arranged individually. If you need assembled furniture, please contact us before placing your order and we will check what is possible in your area.

Do tops and fronts scratch easily? How are surfaces protected?

We protect furniture surfaces with paints and lacquers intended for children’s furniture. These finishes are resistant to typical daily use such as homework, drawing or placing toys and books. As with any furniture, scratches may appear when sharp objects are used, so we recommend using pads and avoiding aggressive chemical cleaners. For regular care, a soft cloth slightly dampened with water and a mild detergent is enough.

Do you test the furniture before it goes on sale?

Yes. New designs go through load tests and everyday-use simulations in conditions similar to a real kids’ room. We check stability, shelf strength, edge safety and the performance of hinges and runners. Only pieces that meet our internal quality and safety standards are introduced to the collection.

How long does it take to assemble the furniture?

Assembly time depends on the specific model and on your experience. Simple items such as small tables or single shelves can often be assembled in under an hour, whereas larger pieces – chests, wardrobes or bunk beds – naturally require more time and sometimes two people. For each product we indicate an approximate level of assembly difficulty so you know what to expect.

Can one person assemble the furniture alone?

Smaller pieces can usually be assembled by one person, while larger items such as wardrobes or bunk beds are safer and more convenient to assemble with the help of another adult. This is not only about comfort but also about safety when lifting and positioning large panels. The assembly instructions indicate when a second pair of hands is especially recommended.

What should I do if a part is missing or damaged in the box?

First, keep the packaging and take photos of any missing or damaged parts. Then contact our customer service – ideally via your store account or by email – including your order number and the photos. We will quickly verify your claim and send replacement parts. Our goal is to make sure your furniture is complete and ready for assembly as soon as possible.

How should I care for furniture surfaces on a daily basis?

For everyday care, a soft microfibre cloth slightly dampened with water and a mild detergent is sufficient. Avoid aggressive chemical cleaners containing chlorine, acetone or strong solvents, as they can damage the lacquer finish. We also recommend not leaving wet spills on the surface for longer periods. Regularly dusting the furniture with a dry cloth will help maintain its appearance over time.

Can I repaint the furniture in a different colour?

In theory, most wooden and wood-based furniture can be refreshed with the right paints and lacquers. However, sanding and repainting on your own may affect durability and can make it more difficult to claim warranty later. If you are considering a colour change, we recommend consulting us or an experienced professional to choose coatings that are safe for a child’s room.

Can the furniture be disassembled and reassembled several times, for example when moving?

Our furniture is designed to withstand normal use, including disassembly and reassembly once, for example during a move. It is important to follow the instructions carefully and use the right tools to avoid damaging joints and screws. Repeatedly taking a piece apart and putting it back together will always carry some risk of weakening fixings, so we recommend handling all parts carefully and avoiding over-tightening.

Returns, complaints & orders

Can I return the furniture if I do not like it?

If you purchase as a consumer in our online store, you have the right to withdraw from a distance contract. As a rule, you have 14 days from the delivery date to notify us that you wish to return an item. Full details are available in our Terms & Conditions and in the Returns & Complaints section.

How long do I have to return the furniture?

Our packaging is tested for the conditions of standard courier transport. If a parcel arrives damaged despite this, please ask the courier to fill out a damage report and contact our customer service immediately – we will help you resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Can I change my order after it has been placed?

If your order has not yet entered the warehouse processing stage, we can often make changes – such as colour adjustments, adding an item or correcting the delivery address. The best approach is to contact us as soon as possible by email or via the contact form, including your order number and the requested changes. Once the parcel has been packed, modification options become limited.

Can I purchase Wood Luck Design furniture as a business and receive an invoice?

Yes. During checkout you can enter your company details and VAT number, and we will issue an invoice accordingly. Sustainability & brand philosophy

Is Wood Luck Design eco-friendly?

We approach sustainability on several levels. We produce in Poland, which shortens the supply chain. We use modern wood-based materials from legal sources, and we design our furniture to be used for many years – the opposite of “disposable furniture”. We work with water-based paints and lacquers suitable for children’s furniture to limit harmful emissions. Our focus on quality and timeless design means the furniture can be passed on to younger siblings or easily restyled, instead of being replaced after a short time.

Do you use water-based paints and hold relevant certificates?

Yes, we use water-based paints and lacquers specifically intended for children’s furniture. They are safer and more suitable for kids’ rooms than classic solvent-based finishes, while still providing durability and resistance. Our paints and lacquers comply with the EN71/3 standard — which regulates chemical safety for children’s furniture and toys, including limits on the migration of heavy metals. Wood-based materials used in our furniture also meet low-formaldehyde emission requirements (CARB compliant). We work exclusively with European suppliers who test their products for safety and transparency. You can always find up-to-date information on standards and certifications in product detail pages.

Why do you focus so strongly on quality?

High-quality children’s furniture means safety, peace of mind for parents and real savings in the long term. Good materials and well-engineered constructions do not wobble after a few months, and drawers and doors keep working as they should. We want Wood Luck Design furniture to grow with your child – from early years to teenage – and to look good in your home for many years, not just for one “trend season”.

Is Wood Luck Design a Polish family-owned brand?

Yes, Wood Luck Design is a Polish brand with roots in the Bieszczady region. At the beginning we developed the brand locally, working closely with experienced carpenters and teams from the area. This helps us better understand families’ needs and quickly respond to feedback from parents and children who use our furniture every day.

How do you approach reducing production waste?

When designing our furniture, we plan parts and cutting layouts to make efficient use of boards and timber, reducing waste. Some leftover material is reused, for example for prototypes, auxiliary elements or smaller accessories. Remaining waste is handed over to specialised partners in accordance with regulations, so it can be processed or recycled in a responsible way.

Can your furniture be easily passed on or resold?

Yes – this is one of the reasons we focus on quality and timeless design. When your child outgrows the furniture, you can pass it on to younger siblings, relatives or resell it. Neutral colours and durable materials help our pieces look good even after years of use, extending their life cycle and benefiting both the environment and your family budget.

Why is producing in Poland important to you?

Producing in Poland means a shorter supply chain, greater quality control and closer cooperation with our suppliers. We can visit the factory regularly, test prototypes and continuously refine processes. It also supports the local economy and jobs in the region we come from.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions | Wood Luck Design
